About v.a.v group

Where are the v.a.v. group facilities?

The company and all of its facilities are located in Ii, near the city of Oulu in northern Finland.

What certifications do V.A.V. Group's products have?

V.A.V. Group is ISO 9001 certified.

The Fire X – material fits EN45545-2:2020 requirements R22 & R23 for HL3, and has certifications for IMO FTPC Part 2 & 5 (Silicone) and the UL 94 V Classification V0.

TPE/TPV

What is the difference between tpe and tpv?

TPV is a specific type of TPE that includes vulcanized rubber, giving it enhanced durability, chemical resistance, and heat resistance, often surpassing that of standard TPEs.

TPV closely mimics the properties of traditional rubber, making it more robust for demanding applications.

Can I get tpe/tpv in a custom shape?

Yes. V.A.V. Group creates custom extrusion dyes based on the designs delivered to us by the client or designed together with our engineers.

what applications does tpe work for?

TPE functions in various applications, including, but not limited to, appliance seals, automotive interior components, such as dashboard trim and cup holders, soft-touch grips and handles, medical devices and equipment, cable and wire insulation, weather seals, window and door seals, etc.

Is tpe recyclable?

TPE can be recycled and repurposed! The material can be melted down into granules, reshaped, and cured again.

Silicone

can i get silicone rubber in a custom shape?

Yes. V.A.V. Group creates custom extrusion dyes based on the designs delivered to us by the client or designed together with our engineers.

Is silicone safe for kids/pets/medical products

Silicone can be processed to be safe for medical- or food-grade products. Platinum silicone has high chemical resistance and is usually clearer than other silicone types, maintaining this clarity without yellowing over time. Therefore, it is often used, for example, in food containers.

What is the operating temperature range for silicone?

Depending on the treatments and production process, silicone can operate anywhere between -100°C  and +300 °C.

What is the difference between silicon, silicone and silica?

Silicon is a chemical element (Si) commonly found in nature, used in electronics and as a raw material in various industries.

Silicone is a synthetic polymer made from silicon, oxygen, and other elements, used in sealants, medical devices, cookware, and more due to its flexibility and heat resistance. We work with silicone.

Silica (silicon dioxide) is a compound made of silicon and oxygen, found naturally as quartz, and used in glass and ceramics.

Fire x

What certifications does fire x have?

The Fire X – material fits EN45545-2:2020 requirements R22 & R23 for HL3, and has certifications for IMO FTPC Part 2 & 5 (Silicone) and the UL 94 V Classification V0.

Can i get a custom shaped profile made from fire x?

Yes. V.A.V. Group creates custom extrusion dyes based on the designs delivered to us by the client or designed together with our engineers.

how does fire x work?

Fireproof seals and profiles work by creating a physical barrier that prevents or slows down the spread of fire and smoke. There are different solutions to do that, for example, fire-proof silicone, ablative sealants, or intumescent seals and fire-retardant profiles.

Manufacturing

I need a custom profile made from scratch. do i need to have a design ready?

No. We can create a new extrusion dye based on your needs and will make several prototypes to make sure it fits the purpose.

You can also send us a physical example piece of profile, from which we can model the dye.

What size production volumes does v.a.v. group offer?

Our production process is extremely flexible with an ability to quickly produce small to medium size production series.

what production methods does v.a.v. group have?

We work with silicone, TPE, and TPV materials. We have both horizontal and vertical extrusion lines, as well as various optional and additional further processing or assembly options, such as laser engraving and 3D-printing.

I don't know what kind of material/production method fits my needs. what should i do?
